Age UK Thanet

Andrea Lashbrook, CEO, Justin Katzer, Chef Manager, Lyn Edwards, Insurance Supervisor and Sue Hoy, Outreach Manager would like to personally thank all who attended Age UK Thanet’s first ‘Winter Warmer’ bike run.

Age UK Thanet partnered with Age UK Herne Bay for this event which was held on 27th November to raise funding and donations of items such as hats, scarves, hot water bottles, thermos and blankets to help elderly people in need within our local community. The bike run commenced at 12 noon from Age UK Herne Bay, and finished at 1pm at Age UK Thanet.

The day was a great success, and special thanks goes to ‘The Rejects’ and other clubs who attended. ‘The Rejects’ road marshalled the event, and did so with absolute professionalism and order.

In total, we received over 100 items of hats, scarves, hot water bottles etc. which were all kindly donated by all the wonderful bikers that attended.

Two Age UK Thanet clients had the joy of reminiscing from their biker days, and even had the chance to sit on a Harley Davidson trike and have their photographs taken! – many thanks to the biking fraternity for bringing the light and joy back into these ladies lives.

Due to the success of the run this will now become a yearly event, so keep your eyes peeled for next year’s event date!
